Spotlight on Past President, Maggie Rush Vinciguerra
Summer 2020

Dedicated volunteers have been the backbone of The Niskayuna Community Foundation (NCF) for over 20 years. As we celebrate NCF’s 20th anniversary, we’re spotlighting key volunteers who have shaped the direction of the NCF and made a lasting contribution to the organization. Maggie Rush Vinciguerra just stepped down from the board of directors after 10 years of service, including two as board president.
Maggie began volunteering with NCF when she moved back to this area from New York City, where she was very involved with nonprofits such as the Robin Hood Foundation. She wanted to make a commitment to her new community and first learned about NCF from her mother-in-law, who was on the board of directors for the Community Foundation of the Greater Capital Region at the time. When asked how NCF has changed over the past decade, Maggie shared that the organization has evolved to meet the changing needs of our community, while staying true to its mission of improving the quality of life for Niskayuna residents and Niskayuna school district families. Over the years, NCF grants have supported a wide range of programs, including high school after prom parties, technology for seniors and groups that help to address food insecurity. Most recently, NCF reacted quickly and generously to the COVID-19 crisis by making emergency donations to show appreciation for hospital workers and to help impacted families get food and supplies. In addition, NCF provided local organizations with an additional $20,000 in grant funding to commemorate its anniversary year. Maggie also shared that she’s really proud of how NCF has responded to the changing demographics of its donor base, recruited new board members and committed to developing a new strategic plan for the next decade. |
